I’m still going to engage with you despite you not engaging with any part of my comment…

i don’t want to live in a country that scores [me]. I have the right to not want [that].

You sure do have that right. Your right to not want that is just dandy. However, Chinese people, by and large, do support their implementation of the social credit system. The Chinese people are developing their vision of socialism. For you to personally not like certain features of Chinese socialism is fine and dandy. But to condemn the Chinese for some aspect of their development of socialism that enjoys high support is chauvinistic of you.

This thought-terminating cliche is getting so tired. You may as well just say “let’s just agree to disagree”.

It’s telling that this cliche is most often applied when western whataboutism is correctly called out, and all it does is serve to legitimize the act of manufacturing consent against China.

USA invents credit score way back in the 50s

credit score is immediately used to pull off the most calculatingly misogynistic, racist, and classist financial enforcement in modern history.

china implements a technically similar system that aims not to control working people’s financial agency, but to strengthen public trust.

the west immediately spins up the presses and releases dozens of hit pieces a year that manufacture consent against China by portraying the Chinese social credit system as an orwellian nightmare that will rip a child out of their parent’s home if the household spends too much time on videos games.

leftists identify this whataboutism and correctly call it out

liberals drop one of their various thought-terminating cliches to (not so) subtly bolster the western narrative - thus manufacturing consent against China.

You’ve been effortlessly oriented by the State Department and its various propaganda apparatus.

  • Damn girl, you shit with that ass?

let me tongue punch that fart box

i see youre a fellow arborist, what’s your favorite thing about [tree in pic]

Or really anything other than a milquetoast expression of horniness. Could try to be funny, could try to be genuine… honestly “nice ass” is very low effort. This person is probably getting 20 of those a day. You need to stand out.

  • Assuming everyone lives in a city where the weather is mild, the distances to things are short, there is reliable public transportation, and has significant infrastructure in place for walking/biking

Could you elaborate about what you mean here? It appears to me as if the people participating in fuck cars are more bemoaning the lack of these things. The people frequenting that comm will be the first to complain that the vast majority of Americans have abysmal choices for non-automobile transportation.

Also assuming that everyone using a car instead of biking/walking is just being lazy, without spending a second to consider the elderly or infirm

This, I just simply dont see in that comm. I feel like the people in fuck cars comm would be the first ones to argue that the elderly and infirm are oftentimes the first ones to suffer due to lack of good public transportation options. Casting the fuck cars community as ableist and ignorant to the struggles of the disabled seems unfair - given how the mass transit community are some of the primary champions of low floor trams, paratransit, accessible stations with elevators, designated priority seating, etc…

Turns out, skepticism towards the motivation for promoting poor strategy is a real thing that leftists arrive to without being “liberals”.

You understand that the leftist position is similarly that liberals have poor strategy and are naive, right? The difference is that leftists dont think there is a vast conspiracy to astro turf liberal ideas onto an internet forum. As it turns out, people are complicated and arrive to various political ideologies for a whole myriad of different reasons - regardless of whether not it seems rational to you.

It’s still bizarre how the liberals on this site refuse to believe that a particular brand of marxism leninism could be arrived at organically - as millions upon millions of people already have across the globe for the past 100 years.

Why is it that liberals scream “INORGANIC” every time leftists start a discussion that is anywhere to the left of the US State Department’s official stance?

Turns out, principled leftism is a real thing that people arrive to without the help of “Ruzzian bots” or “ccp shills”.

  • How effective do you see these epic quips being when people are being loaded onto trains?

Yall have been bleating “yall quada hur dur” for the last 10 years- amidst an unprecedented rise in right wing militias, police capability, domestic troop rollouts, right wing terror, and right wing armament. Not only is it entirely ineffective, but it shows just how little respect you’ve given to the very real threat of right wing terror in America. What is it? Are the right wingers weak or strong?

  • Yall would do best to quit the handwringing about when and how body shaming is okay. Body shaming is never okay, period. This is not leftism. This is liberalism. Leftists dont do this. And to what end? Performative schoolyard insults aren’t going to stop the descent into fascism. All it does is show you aren’t understanding what causes fascism and how it’s mitigated. Does the existence of black Nazis give you the right to start dropping N bombs?

    “Violence doesn’t work against Nazis”

What??? What was WWII about then??

You have two methods to stop fascism: meet people’s basic needs, or squash it with guns and bullets. No amount of cutting late night monologues, or epic slams, or incisive think pieces will quell fascism. I’ll leave you a quote from Hitler.

And so, I established in 1919 a programme and tendency that was a conscious slap in the face of the democratic-pacifist world. [We knew] it might take five or ten or twenty years, yet gradually an authoritarian state arose within the democratic state, and a nucleus of fanatical devotion and ruthless determination formed in a wretched world that lacked basic convictions.

Only one danger could have jeopardised this development — if our adversaries had understood its principle, established a clear understanding of our ideas, and not offered any resistance. Or, alternatively, if they had from the first day annihilated with the utmost brutality the nucleus of our new movement.

Neither was done. The times were such that our adversaries were no longer capable of accomplishing our annihilation, nor did they have the nerve. Arguably, they furthermore lacked the understanding to assume a wholly appropriate attitude. Instead, they began to tyrannise our young movement by bourgeois means, and, by doing so, they assisted the process of natural selection in a very fortunate manner. From there on, it was only a question of time until the leadership of the nation would fall to our hardened human material.

    Emphasis mine.

  • I use the frigate plugin in home assistant to make my lights do certain things when persons are detected where they shouldn’t be. Once you’ve got frigate connected to home assistant, your possibilities are endless. With a few zigbee smart switches, you could start pulling off home alone style antics if you really wanted. Think: sprinklers, lights, noises, projectors, video, etc… just dont forget to keep the legal aspect in mind.

I also have home assistant play a sort of alarm on my denon home theater stereo if a person is detected in frigate. It gets very loud.

I haven’t heard of alarmo. It sounds like it fits my use case perfectly. Checking it out.
