I believe this to a degree based on my personal experiences with being thought of as either a brilliant wizard or evil hacker for unimpressive things. It even would happen at different jobs until my current job where my boss is the opposite. he thinks that anything and everything is possible and should be “easy” despite being technically illiterate. His new AI obsession has made it so much worse. I actually miss the super annoying “OMG you can do that? You’re a wizard/hacker/demigod!” days.

In my head, I am picturing the Goatse guy popping up in the corner of the screen like the “TOASTY!” guy from Mortal Kombat.
Nice, thanks. The Steam backlog must grow.
lol, no of course not, unless that changed later. I would have noped right out.
Not all of us. I just read what it said on the main page “A community of privacy and FOSS enthusiasts, run by Lemmy’s developers” and thought that sounded good. I’m sure a lot of people that were new to lemmy figured the instance run by the devs themselves would be a safe bet. There also wasn’t nearly as much drama around .ml back then, but it honestly hasn’t been enough of an issue to make me create an account on a new instance and switch.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Should I unplug my smart tv from the internet?
3·4 months agoSceptre was more of a TV company in the past, but over the last decade or so have definitely moved more into the monitor business. I have actually owned 5 different Sceptre TVs over the last 20 years, but back in the day it was because they were some of the least expensive LCD televisions on the market.

6·4 months agoI also bought a Sceptre “dumb TV” within the last year or so and highly recommend it. I had been recommending it over and over, but recently I found that the model I bought was no longer offered. I hope Sceptre didn’t abandon them.
They probably use the proprietary Face Off ™ technology.
I believe the previous post was talking about Wake on LAN (WoL) and Wake on WLAN (WoWLAN) which are separate things.
Civ 3 was the first game in the series that didn’t feel like a big improvement (graphics aside of course). but you always love your first Civ.
I had that game for the Atari 2600 and unlike E.T, it was a great game.
I still have my copy in my own little museum in my office with some of my favorite (or in this case most notorious) games. Does that count?

1·4 months agoYeah, I’m a little jealous of that cool ass setup. I used to have something like it, though not as nice.
I like that “Name” was on there. You know, in case he forgets.
I bought one of these for my wife and we she has unfortunately had to switch back to her other phone due to some bugs. It seems to fail to be able to make phone calls or maintain bluetooth connections frequently. She has never had an issue receiving calls though. I’m still working on trying to find a solution for her because her old phone is a Pixel 6a which Google just nerfed the battery into oblivion like they did my 4a. I swear they have it out for us.

This is true because Linux users know that daemons are something that you can rein in and perhaps restart on occasion.
I am also a big fan of the MX518 lineage mice, so I hope someone make a version that has that shape. When Logitech released an updated MX518 several years back I bought a couple of them, so I will be good for years hopefully.

My favorite sci-fi game is probably Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri. ME1 was the only game in the series that I enjoyed, but it still felt like a de-StarWars-ified KOTOR game.
