If you do this - e.g. pulling your finger - regularly during the day you will remember to do it in your dreams. If you wanna try lucid dreaming be aware of sleep paralysis.

I always wake up when I do this because of the shock when I see how they look - sometimes like claws, or the bones are visible. Tried this as reality check to train lucid dreaming, because it’s not really noticeable to others during the day - in contrast to the casual jump to check for flying skills

1·10 months agoThe statement was that the amount of moved muscle is related to the amount of calories that are burnt - an obese person does not have large muscles automatically. When they move the weight definitely has an impact on their muscles - a workout without additional weights would have a bigger impact on burnt calories as for a skinny person with same muscle mass. But the impact of moving through the living room on overall calorie balance should be neglectible.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's something that's taken for granted that occasionally makes you think, wait wtf?
4·10 months agoYou’re right-I didn’t want to make it look simple. I’m just constantly stunned how wealth is distributed, which is one of many reasons for homelessness. A fair distribution could finance housing and support systems.

13·10 months agoAnd the wealth of only one single manchild is enough to pay housing for them all - at least in this nation…and probably in some more. (Just looked some numbers up - world economic forum reported in 2021 that there are 150 million people homeless in the world, that would be ~2700,- per individual homeless person, taking his net worth into account -for 770. 000 homeless people in the US it would be ~525. 000 per person)

4·11 months agoCompletely agree, but my guess is they want one, but struggle with the information about the health status. Without knowing what the issue is, it’s hard to say what my decision would be. But “your body, your choice” is always true and nobody should be allowed to condemn you for your choice.

2·1 year agoAlso at least in my country I can call in sick if I have a headache, will be paid for the day and there is no number of paid-time-off-days, which will be subtracted by one when I do so. The employer continues to pay up to 6 weeks of salary if you need to stay at home due to sickness, and for a period longer than 3 days you need a dr to confirm you’re sick. The number of sick days per year depend on you actually being sick - I was baffled when I learned this is a fixed number in the US (at least for some) . I guess the motivation to work sick when you have a limited number of paid sick days also contributes to the usage of pain killers.
My father in law told me how a guy at work created several pictures with AI for decorating the floor, bragging about saving costs since he didn’t use licensed pictures. But the AI may have used licensed pictures to learn creating those images. Artists lose money due to this being done by companies, which could very well afford paying the artists. I guess a private person creating memes with AI is not threatening anyone to lose their job.
Oh <3 thank you - that’s really lovely
Love those colours - everytime I see a photogenic sunset I am on the way home. Sometimes if it’s super nice I exit the motorway and try to find a place with a good view to take a picture, but it’s never as beautiful as I saw it while driving, with the horizon clear in front of me. A nice sunset always makes my day better, thanks for sharing.
Oh I just saw it’s sunrise not sunset - but both are good.

Now I feel stupid that I always assumed they just don’t know better, but this makes a ton of sense - and they can even expect a raise each time they change jobs. So their whole career is based on bullshitting and they for sure make more money than me… I don’t like this thought process

Same… when I write a mail at work I usually add details so my forgetful ass can look up what I did later, in case I need to reproduce the task. It’s not necessarily important to the recipients.
