Technology@lemmy.ml•Servo aims to empower developers with a lightweight, high-performance alternative for embedding web technologies in applications.
6·2 months agoIf you’d like to embed Servo in your own application, consider using tauri-runtime-verso, a custom Tauri runtime, or servo-gtk, a GTK4-based web browser widget.
Ladybird also has rather questionable politics https://hyperborea.org/reviews/software/ladybird-inclusivity/

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the most ridiculous reason why someone sent you death threats?
20·2 months agoNot sent, but I had an old guy follow me 5 minutes down the road and threaten to kill me to my face because I apparently bumped into him in a busy station.
I use this all the time, it’s great.
Cars still suck even without the dependence. I live somewhere that very much isn’t car dependant but there’s still too many of them and they still make places miserable.
Your hobby is fine as long as you don’t impose the externalities on other people. I don’t want to hear your loud engine, I don’t want to breathe your fumes, and I don’t want to worry about getting hit while just walking around.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If political agendas were released, or summarized, like patch notes would people better understand what they are signed up for?
16·10 months agoWe have that in the UK, the parties all publish manifestos before elections. I think it helps to get the message across and to be clear about what they are and aren’t promising to do. They aren’t, however, legally enforceable so parties aren’t obliged to actually follow up on their promises.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Can I use A.I generated pics for book cover to sell?
152·11 months agoMusicians pay royalties when they use samples. AI companies don’t pay artists for their work.
I use it over other tools, but I haven’t used the proprietary tools so I can’t provide a comparison.

pics@lemmy.world•What would you called this type of photo? A old postcard of Nanko Temple, Kobe, Japan.
2·1 year agoIt looks like a hand coloured photo to me, which were apparently popular in Japan for a while

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your solution to the problem in the world you're the most vocal about?
4·1 year agoWhat’s the difference?
Anti car doesn’t mean completely banning cars. Nobody is saying to replace ambulances with bus trips. There’s obviously a need and cars would be much more effective for those things if the roads weren’t clogged with people who don’t have a need.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your solution to the problem in the world you're the most vocal about?
151·1 year agoFast & frequent public transport, safe cycling infrastructure, footpaths, just putting things closer together to reduce the need for transport

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your solution to the problem in the world you're the most vocal about?
28·1 year agoThe only solution to car traffic is building viable alternatives to driving. Alternatives also bring many environmental and societal benefits.
Please don’t listen to the other guy. London is huge and incredibly diverse and there’s plenty of great people.

The whole premise was that they’re in danger and need to get to Canada to be safe (the bad guys don’t have passports I guess 🤷), but have to wait just before they cross the border for everyone to show up seemingly for no reason.
