I appreciate the deep dive, but like, I think I’m just a fundamentally different kind of computer user than this person who has an automatic warning on their website telling me to disable all javascript by default.
I’m not saying they’re wrong, just… more invested in security than I am, among other things probably.

Yeah, when I tried basic Ubuntu about a year ago, it must not have liked something about my two monitors or Nvidia GPU.
The whole desktop was shitting itself, and at one point I could see my mouse on one monitor but the clicks were taking place on the other monitor. It’s a nightmare to debug things when you can’t accurately click any windows or buttons.
Endeavor and Pop both worked out of the box.

First time I installed Linux was maybe two years ago, and I watched a video that basically told me it’s best to start with something simple and install things as you need them, so I got plain ol Ubuntu.
Well it turns out it’s really hard to get basic shit working when basic shit doesn’t work. I was having some crazy dual monitor problems.
I’ve tried Pop and Endeavor now and I’m much happier.

These comics are always fun to read because as an R user, I only ever hear about how fast python is.
The series is neat because I think the original work was a light novel, then the anime came out, then the manga started much later.
Oh!Great is a sick artist though. I absolutely don’t disagree about the art being on another level.

10·7 months agoNot claiming to be an expert, but I watched this video a while back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmKjVpVdHDQ
The impression I got is that PS1 emulation is actually pretty good, and N64 emulation is more like that Homer Simpson meme with all the clothespins on his back.

Imagine if someone handed you a burnt cake and said “make this exact cake, but not burnt.”
If you can perfectly recreate the burnt cake, you’ve at least verified your ingredient list. The next step is to just bake it right.
Admittedly, I just make the occasional meme for friends, but Photopea has been a 1:1 replacement for Photoshop for me.

Everyone loves Bazzite, and they’re probably all right, but it did not run very well on my old gaming laptop.
Since people often mention Linux (in general) as being a good OS for older hardware, I thought this anecdote might be a helpful perspective to some.
I tried two or three other distros on that laptop, and they all ran fine as expected. I assume Bazzite has some higher system requirements to power its cool features.
