Back in the day I had started a software development major and was incentivised to learn about computers on a fundamental level. I learned that Linux was commonly used in the server space, so I decided to make a bootable USB to learn how to use the system (I tried Manjaro with the Deepin DE).
I soon realised I liked using it way more, mainly because I was bored of Windows’s visuals and lack of options. I had tried rainmeter to add widgets and effects, but it was a bit of a hassle to configure and update.
After using a dual boot setup for half a year, I moved fully to Linux, since I no longer had classes requiring Windows-only software. Nowadays I’m using EndeavourOS with KDE, mostly for gaming, browsing and writing documents.
Nothing like the joy of my system upgrading without a hassle… just need to press the up arrow key until I find the command… I’ll get there eventually

From what I understand, using a monetary amount in this case isn’t meant to be taken literally, but to illustrate the impact open source as a whole provides, since money is probably the measure of “value” people are most familiar with and consider the most objective.
I like to think of it as an indicator of “value to society” and as a way to compare it with other efforts/ventures, even if it isn’t quite 1:1
Also in videogames. The only time I’ve seen it could be justified happened in Detroit: Become Human. There, the character doing it is an android, so she probably got data from the internet to cut her hair properly, or was preconfigured with that knowledge.

Just like in Demon’s Souls 🙃

Sounds pretty cool, thanks for sharing!

Oh, fun indeed 😄. Thanks!
As the old adage goes: “All roads lead to /root”

Could you please elaborate? I’ve no idea what that sentence means, so it sounds really wild to me 😅

Jokes aside, the original quote really hits different nowadays, and I’m not even British 😅
And the Spanish version teaches English, I learned a decent amount from it.
