On the one hand, I don’t give a fuck about anti-cheat, because games using the kernel-level version tend to be giant multiplayer cesspools of little value.
On the other hand, I want Windows to lose the war.
I hope Valve can find the balance between these two extremes.
It was for me as well. Proton has been mostly there for years. I’m about to hit year 4 of gaming only on Linux.
I think the last hold out is kernel-level anti-cheat. Hoping it just goes away and consumers stop supporting it. One can dream.
I’m not going to dwell on how annoying it is that it took people THIS LONG to get off the Windows train. I’m just happy to see the world changing for the better.

This is true of the Christian God – but also trivially true of any other conceptual deity which may exist. There have been thousands of God-figures discussed by mankind in its history, and if a god exists, none of those discussed may be the real God. (This strikes me as a kind of inverted version of the famous “Pascal’s Wager”)
GTA Online alone takes in billions of dollars for this company. Its employees should be reaping the rewards of that success.

A lot of companies (most?), especially in the US, need to return to the social contract.
Meaning “Star Trek (2009)”, which was the first of the Kelvin Timeline. That is the one film of that timeline which tends to get the most love, and I think it also had the best script of any in the timeline.
The Kelvin Timeline sucks and always sucked. It’s not that there was anything inherently wrong with any of the actors. One could argue that the scripts were mostly OK too – at least this was true of 2009.
The problem is that Paramount decided to rehash and replace instead of coming up with something new. At least Disney (amidst their own rehashes, admittedly) had the decency to throw in some actual new material into the Star Wars universe. What Trekkers definitely didn’t want or need was some non-Shatner running around in remakes of (parts of) beloved films, ruining references. What an absolute waste of resources for a famous franchise.
What gets to me most is people who have only seen the Kelvin Timeline films, because they’re newer, and think they are a good representation of what Star Trek is supposed to be. None of these people I have talked to say they like Star Trek, and I don’t blame them. I wouldn’t either.
A respected academic telling me that something or another in data is “suggestive” means something. From a rando pseudoscientist working from the armchair, it means fuck all.
I’ve not looked back in 3+ years.
But I really wonder how many of these same articles we need before more significant numbers of people actually ditch Windows. It saves you money. It saves you time. Many Windows games run better on Linux. And yet, the market share increase is a steady trickle rather than a deluge.

Linux only gamer for 3+ years now. It is a good time for the penguins.
Goodbye, Farewell and Amen (the last episode) holds up well as some of the best TV ever made. They really ended on a high note unlike so many more modern series.
