  • Someone did the math above.

    https://old.lemmy.world/comment/16391357

So, a typical pupil is around 2 mm in diameter in bright conditions. With the Rayleigh limit that results in an angular resolution of 1.22 * 60010^-9 m / 210^-3 m = 3.66*10^-4 rad

At a distance of 5 x 3 mi = 15 mi = 24.1 km this corresponds to a point to point distance of

    tan(a/2) = (d/2)/l

    d = tan(a/2) * l * 2 = tan(3.66*10^-4) * 24100 * 2 = 8.8 m

So in conclusion, with regular, human-like eyes he could discern points that are at least 8.8 m apart in the best case scenario. Discerning hair color from the color of the clothes would need a much higher resolution, and the horsemen are probably not 10 m apart from each other either. And again, this is a theoretical limit, real-world resolution would probably be significantly lower.

  • You mean well before what he actually said during the sieg heils

“It is thanks to you, that the future of civilization is assured.”

    =

Elon Musk inner thoughts: I should Nazi salute. Do it. Do it you pussy. Think of the news it’ll generate. Think of all the votes, oh god I’ll make all the democrats cry that I’m a nazi when I’m not even a nazi! Fuck, lets do it!

    nazi salute

Oh god that was awkward as fuck. Okay, let’s do it twice, then make sure they know I’m serious and it wasn’t just some weird fucked up tic I do.

    SIEG HEILS even harder

    MMHPPHPHPHHHHHHHH SUCK IT AOC.

  • I’ve always been a fan of using > and < but in the general use of lesser than or greater than, however, the symbols were always interchangeable to me since it always depends on where you put the defined integer, correct?

If I want to say something is less than 37. It can either be 37 > or < 37.

Because in that scenario the imaginary integer n is always on the opposite side of the symbol.

    37 > n

    n < 37

So why did > ever become greater and < be less than? Doesn’t it also depend on how your text is written? If people reading from right to left or down to up vs left to right and up to down, means it’s reversed.

The open part of the caret is where the bigger number is, the opposite side is where the lesser number is.
