And soon, new laptops will have a second forced stupid Microsoft key. The copilot key.
Not even joking.
And thereby learning more about what the program can do then the original dev even knew it could.
This is a weird picture of that important process though.
The point is that learning institutions should not prefer one commercial companies solutions vs another.
In fact, they should not use or be dependent on commercial companies at all.
Learning stuff and implementing what you learned should be available for all. Not just people with the money.
Companies know this so they give away their stuff for free to these schools knowing they will contain these people for life.
We need to break out of that extreme vendor lock-in.
So Trump is not just draining my will to live?

I agree. For a init system.
I don’t like the “takeover” of network and home folders. (It feels like a takeover for me)
Ubuntu is moving towards a closed environment with their snaps (when using apt install firefox, it installs a snap. That is just plain wrong). But they are doing other weird things as well.
RedHat, well: IBM. They mangled the whole Centos thing right before eol of the old one and the intro of a new version. Currently, when you legally decide to share the source code of Redhat, you are allowed to do that (according to the GPL) but Redhat will cancel your subscription after you do that,
So, yes, technically you are allowed to share the source code, but they will kick you out of the building.
All in all, Debian is the only one left for serious consideration in my servers / desktops.
Hell yeah, debian stable on my servers and testing on my laptop. #perfection

Please keep your faith to yourself, we have too many as it is.
The fun part is… My printers are always recognized by Linux. Never by windows. I need to always download all kinds of stuff for windows.
Same thing for all of the other stuff in my computer. It’s already in my Linux kernel. For windows I have to search for simple things like sound drivers!!!
So I’d say: Linux is easier!
As a parent of two boys, i feel that much of the annoyance of no-children-having people is due to parents not putting boundaries for children in place.
Children scream because of attention. It means they are not getting it.
Start walking around with the kid to calm it down. Its your job as a parent. You cannot stay seated and act like “what are you gonna do? They are children ! They scream!”
No. You are a bad parent for letting them just scream.
Having said that, babies sometimes just scream without reason. Perhaps, and I mean this, if you have a baby that is prone to doing this, do not travel in confined spaces, or dine at restaurants until that phase of screaming is over.
Omg. That thing is GORGEOUS. thanks for maling me spend money :-)
