Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Anyone here have an opinion on Dr. John Delony and his show? Same question can be asked for his boss Dave Ramsey.
41·25 days agoRamsey is a self righteous dickhead with a religious kick and grind mentality. Love of money is the only value in life. “take 4 jobs to avoid debt at all costs - your kids will thank you some day”.
Bullshit. Spend time with your kids. It’s worth more than anything else.
It puts the lotion on it’s skin or it gets the hose again.
I believe the ailerons are on the outside half of the wing, and the flaps are on the inside half (toward the fuselage)
Salt is its food group in my life (well, until my heart explodes)
Extends the flaps, i.e. makes the chord of the wing longer making it able to be more effective at lower airspeed. (takeoff and landing).
The flaps are retracted at cruise to make the wing more efficient at cruise.
It’s big and white with a red stripe - it’s like a big Tylenol!

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Sometimes I feel nothing will change for the better and I feel frustrated about it.
5·1 month ago70s and 80s yes. Not so much the 90s. Those were the salad years. Glasnost, the end of the cold war, the Internet… Everything was looking so positive. Hell, even the music was happier (although that might be selection bias).
The 70s and 80s were terrifying by comparison.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do seemingly all politicians (and no one else) do that hand gesture when they talk, the one where it looks like they're holding an invisible fishing rod?
18·1 month agoWell, the man’s retired so he can be I suppose? When (if?) I’m able to retire, I plan on being as out of touch as possible :D

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If a Great Depression happened again, would people still stand together like they did during the penny auctions?
28·1 month agoThe ‘community’ can object as much as they want but the auction site (assuming it would even be a live auction and not some algorithm api thing) would sell off the property to some mega-conglomerate on behalf of the holding company and nobody Un the community would even be aware until the sheriff kicks out and locks the poor sap out.
And they got fucking expensive!

5·1 month agoI think when people say “destruction of the planet” they are really meaning “our ecosphere and the multitude of species that are currently going extinct”.
Many recognize that we are in a 6th mass extinction period and understand that as the ecosystem goes, so do we. Is the spheroid body of the planet going to crumble or plate tectonics stop working because we’re gone? With all deference to George Carlin, no we know better (we’ll, there is the question about racking-induced earthquakes, but that’s a bit in the weeds).
Oh, I completely agree. I was just stating how it is here in case that’s not the same in other countries.
I have the factory fog lamps (they’re pretty low) on whenever the low beams are on. I have abysmal night vision and live in a rural area.

Almond milk, a bunch of sugar, and 1 minute in the microwave - makes a cold morning not so bad.
