Hey.
I’m Dan. A 36 year old father of two who doesn’t have nearly as much time as he needs to do half the things he wishes he had the time to do.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Would you watch the earth form from nothing to the current time for 500.000 $?English
32·2 年前I dunno, I could spend a good long while playing nothing but Football Manager if I didn’t have to worry about being anywhere else.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Would you watch the earth form from nothing to the current time for 500.000 $?English
9·2 年前I mean, is this in real time because I won’t lie, I bet there’s an awful lot of ‘boring’ mixed in with all the amazing moments.
Don’t know about how it is in the US, but in the UK the idea of people rushing to finish their transaction fills me with dread. I’ve worked in a supermarket with self service and the general public really struggles with them.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what was your favorite thing about your first car?English
7·2 年前It was the only of my three cars that hasn’t been totalled by a driver not paying attention when driving past it.
Yup. Two cars have been written off whilst parked down my street inside two years. Love it!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the last video game that you were completely hooked on?English
4·2 年前The last game that truly gave me the feeling you described is Lies of P. It was my favourite game of 2023 and the 60 or so hours I put into beating it were very well spent.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is your idea of a perfect day off?English
3·2 年前Definitely spending the day
with my young children, going to a soft-play and then going out for a lunch filled with ‘no no no don’t throw that’ before we return home for a fun evening of 'daaaaaaady, daaaaaaaady’ entirely on my own in total silence apart from the sound of my TV with a videogame on, a fresh cup of tea in my mug and maybe a takeaway pizza on the way.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why didn't Rugby take off in the Indian subcontinent?English
17·2 年前Might also explain why Cricket is so popular. Obviously it still requires a fair amount of physical exertion but it’s definitely a bit more laid back than something like Rugby.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you usually purchase digital or physical books? Why?English
6·2 年前Prefer digital because space is a factor in my house. I love the idea of physical, and I’ll usually go that way for art or reference books. However paperback equivalent I’m always going digital.
Although if I really love a book I’ll always look to add it to my bookshelf at some point.
Ahhh yes. Caps West. Nothing like winning the Presidents Trophy and then falling early.

Hockey@lemmy.ca•Capitals' Tom Wilson suspended six games for high-sticking Maple Leafs' Noah GregorEnglish
3·2 年前I won’t lie. As a Capitals fan I absolutely adore Wilson. He’ll likely get the C after Ovechkin has retired. He plays with an edge, he’s got speed and he’s huge…
But he’s got to cut out these boneheaded plays. I don’t think this was a deliberate intent to injure, but I do think (like a toddler) he thrashed out because he was angry, and the result of that was a pretty nasty injury to an opposing player.
Deliberate or not, you’ve got to be significantly more careful when you’re on the ice. Being angry and remorseful isn’t good enough anymore. He’s a leader on the team, and this selfish act has cost the team during the most important stretch of the season.
I was a neutral in that fight… although as a Capitals fan I did take a fair bit of pleasure in watching two of my most hated teams spend two weeks tearing each other apart.
I don’t remember the hockey being all that good, it was just an absolute spectacle of drama and anger and pettiness.
Iirc Claude Giroux knocked Crosby’s glove away after an altercation and it resulted in another fight, a game misconduct to someone and the rest of that game was an absolute shit-show.

Hockey@lemmy.ca•Capitals' Tom Wilson suspended six games for high-sticking Maple Leafs' Noah GregorEnglish
2·2 年前You know he’s only got to get suspensions if he commits dangerous acts right? Surely the name of the game here should be to stop players from potentially hurting other players?

Hockey@lemmy.ca•Capitals' Tom Wilson suspended six games for high-sticking Maple Leafs' Noah GregorEnglish
33·2 年前Not sure it was malicious. I am sure it was stupid, reckless and utterly avoidable. Poor decision that’s going to cost his team over the next games, games they absolutely needed him for.

Hockey@lemmy.ca•Highlights from the 2024 Challenge Cup FinalEnglish
2·2 年前They qualified for the tier 1 world championship a year or so ago, playing against the likes of Canada, US, Sweden and Russia so whilst they’re not giants of the international game, they’re not awful either.
Baseball has no footprint over here. Same with American football (sorry). We’ve got a basketball league, although I’m not sure how successful that is because my local team seems to be pretty successful and it probably skews my overall understanding of how popular it is.
Hockey however is the most popular indoor team sport in the UK by attendance, which isn’t bad for a sport that largely gets no coverage in the media until someone dies or gets maimed.

Hockey@lemmy.ca•Highlights from the 2024 Challenge Cup FinalEnglish
2·2 年前I’ve been to a few EIHL games and yeah, the advertising is a bit much but they’re usually fairly well attended events. It’s a more popular sport in the UK than you might think, it just never really gets any attention.

Hockey@lemmy.ca•Has anyone checked on Detroit? Are they okay....English
2·2 年前Iirc they made the playoffs the following season under Blashill. That team was done though, they’d managed to keep the good times going but the core was spent and the predicted dry years came real quick.

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Any recommendations for PS Vita games?English
6·2 年前Tearaway was designed from the ground up to be played on the Vita and I’d say it does a pretty fantastic job of using that hardware well. It’s also super cute.

Another example, although less painful for the eyes.

Using Boost for Lemmy as the example here.
Since release Sync just hasn’t been able to handle tables. Every other app I use does it no problem, but sync really struggles with it.

Maybe I could use that time to watch The West Wing? I’ve heard nothing but good things about it but…who’s got the time.
