4·3 days agoAre you well known to them?
Do you give them your account number or a card or bankbook or a check?
Or maybe you carry a gun?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I went to a grocery store in the morning that I normally go to at night and they had dimmed lights, soft music, as well as no sounds coming from the cash registers
3·3 days agoIt’s a grocery store, I’d rather be able to smell tomatoes and strawberries and rotisserie chicken and bread

9·3 days agoBe patient, this too will pass. Those hours last aeons but the years fly by.
Know that for every person sniffing with disapproval at your kids’ worst behavior there’s three thinking, “Oh yeah, I remember how hard that is” or “I’m so glad that’s not me today!”

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•The only grocery store in town now carries frozen sushi
1·5 days agoYes it’s definitely not ideal. But in a wasteland with no sushi at all I suppose it’s… something. Freezing would help keep the rice from becoming dangerous, as well as the surimi and mayo. But it’s not great for texture.

4·6 days agoIf it’s gonna be previously-frozen sushi, better it should still be frozen so at least you know when you started thawing it out.
In the meantime try a handful of regular ol’ lawn grass, if you know it’s not full of pesticides. My cat loves the random grass I weed out of my outdoor plant pots even more than the official Cat Grass I grow indoors. By the way, don’t bother with fresh catnip, it’s not for eating and most cats would rather sniff the dried kind.

21·8 days agoYes you are wise. I have a couple gifts ordered from companies who have decided to bombard me with spam, but I need to track the order until it arrives and then I can block them.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•[Need Help Verifying] did I just witness a purposeful ABC+NBC(+?) blackout during latenight?
182·8 days agoI live in LA and just checked my TV after reading your post. Colbert, Kimmel and Fallon are all playing as usual (it’s 11:45 here). But they’re all reruns from earlier this month. That’s probably normal on a Friday, just like The Daily Show doesn’t even run on Fridays. The networks have hope for you having a social life on Fridays.
So, maybe your local stations did do a blackout, but you’re not missing out on Trump blowing Mamdani. Maybe SNL tomorrow would be good for that.

71·8 days agoI tried this and was no longer able to separate my email into Primary Updates and Promotions, and I started getting pings for every stupid ad. So I put it back. I think I’ll start sending weird emails to myself; “teach your kids (the AI) to talk wrong.”

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it normal to see this static when you close your eyes?
21·11 days agoYes, and if you GENTLY press on your eyelids you can make other colors happen.
Also if you stare at a clear sky, NOT AT THE SUN, or at a bluish wall, you may see little swirly things, it’s the white blood cells in your retinas swimming around.
