Things are fine until one day they need to plug this random peripheral/accessory and it’s not plug and play. Then they hate you forever

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why don't more people use desktop Linux? I have a theory you might not like
8·2 years agoYeah, this is right take. People who don’t use computers for work, school, or pc gaming don’t use computers at all. All the media consumption has been taken over by tablets, and phones.
People who do use computers for work/school use whatever comes on the computers they get. The desire to experiment or mod has become near nonexistent since desktops became laptops. Just throw the old one away and get a new one and only go on it to turn in school assignments or answer work emails

Linux@lemmy.ml•Looking to Move Off of Ubuntu to a More Privacy Oriented Linux OS
51·2 years agoNothing specific. I have been slowly moving off of freeware and FOSS sponsored by commercial companies and with all the bs that happened with RHEL and CentOS, moving off trusting Canonical seemed like a good preemptive step. I’m also jist looking forward to trying different distros. I used to keep up actively with the different Linux distributions and am looking to get back into it.
