I mean it is though, at least from a numbers perspective.
Neither should happen but since i don’t get that choice, I choose the option that saves millions of lives.

not to mention the real threat to foreign born citizens and LGBTQ people in the United States itself.

You know our lawmakers have failed when you have to be this concerned about privacy on your own behalf.
it’s really shouldn’t be this much effort in order to retain your data and I know the argument can be made that you just use services that respect it but without legislation it’s incentivized to monetize data which makes it extremely hard to find alternatives that don’t.
meanwhile I’m on a dynamic ip that hasn’t changed in 18 months

i don’t think so, the reality is the scale of these programs often benefit from the reach and predictable finding government provides.
it’s the same reason that foreign charities for medicine are most effective when done at a government level.
