EDIT: added non-twitter poll link
Since my game is not (only) about villages, but building up an entire nation, I thought of changing the title to make it more appropriate.
“Nation Architect” and “Sovereign Architect” and “Sovereign Roads” are the other ideas.
Game concept: You play as a country leader, tasked with building up a country (either immortal president, or some form of AI). You will need to plan roads and factories, then launch bidding process to see your blueprints get built. You will manage “teams”, which are generated by towns at certain milestones, specialize them and buy them vehicles. Eventually, relations with other countries will come into play as well.
A single badly-planned highway bridge is enough to bankrupt you, like irl for weaker economies.

If you have other suggestions, I’d love to hear them as well.

Nation Building
AuthorityAustralia*Dear Leader
How about …
Masterplan Nation
Build of Nations
Architects don’t design countries. Town planners or Master planners do…
Maybe… Nation Modernization
But if you call it that, you’ll have to build out some scenarios for the player (either like stages or selectable by difficulty) where they have to solve the problems with your prebuilt nations. Of course you could keep a sandbox/start-from-scratch mode too.
Sounds more like a Civil Engineer than architect - e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isambard_Kingdom_Brunel who built countless bridges, railways, ships, tunnels etc…
National Architect?
I don’t like anything with ‘sovereign’ in it because it makes me think of the Sovereign Individual and the big tech people preaching it.
I’d probably think of Jargon of the industry, words, phrases, etc. that people use who work all that infrastructure stuff at the core of your game. And then hope they inspire something. Some games that make think of this, for example: Tropico, Anno, Satisfactory
Check out the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and think of that instead the next time.
it turns out “country” has a double meaning in English
You mean how it’s used to describe rural areas, too? It still works the way you expect it to, even under that definition. 🤷♂️
Or do you mean the genre of music? 🤔
Or do you mean the genre of music?
Such dirty double entendre
I like Country Architect too! It could lead to a country-esk builder who builds small towns and leads them to building nations based on principles the player learns from starting simple and escalates on the premise that different cities and states will act according to geographic landscape and resources. I wish OP the best in naming his game and designing the systems of play that bring education and principles into the forefront of a player’s motivations
tysm!
Is there any media link that isn’t to X? Many don’t like giving clicks to the Nazi social media stronghold.
I’d love to see your game!
EDIT: Your steam link was great.
I recommend simplifying it: Architect
This also leaves you open for sequels/expansions that may have a different theme than “country.”
A bit of warning : I’ve seen indie developers mention that having a single common word for their game title was a mistake. It makes it hard to search for. A combination of words or a simple phrase is better in that regard.
Searching only for “Architect game” right now already yields a bunch of things, like a Korean MMO, actual house architect simulators, and you know, the very popular Prison Architect.
The song Track 17 by Unknown Artist was the best song on Napster!
Fair enough.
Thank you so much!!!
You’re right, I should have made some google poll or something, darn it. (EDIT: added non-twitter link, removed old one)
There are games such as Prison Architect (that are my inspiration in various ways), but I wouldn’t bee as bold as to name mine just Architect. 😅
Another idea was Nation Builder, but that also seems too generic to me.
You’re the first person to explicitly say to like my Steam page (even though I am fully aware the graphics are kind of atrocious), so thanks again. I’ll keep developing this project, and see where it goes.
Nation Builder was my thought.
Nationeering?
Nationeer?
Architect: From The Ground Up
I like this and had the same thought. My other thought was calling it something like “Breaking Ground”
Honestly, +1 for Nation Builder. Generic isn’t necessarily a problem. It gives space for the gameplay itself to define the game’s identity, rather than its title.
You’ll make a certain real civil engineer upset by naming it architect and then having a engineer on the front. :)
Nation Engineer gets you away from some of the genetic architect slop (which often follows a successful game) and maybe draws a YouTuber into playing it.
Good luck with your game!
Very good ideas and information, thank you.
