I’m not the hypocrite here…neither of us are doing anything that would protect the American population from a rapist insurrectionist corrupted by Russia, I’m just admitting it while you’re pretending your impotent wails are doing anything so you can look down on everyone else.

So you’re saying they’re yelling at the liberal to fix the boat and then the guy with the gun throws them off the boat? Doesn’t sound like you’re disagreeing with me.
“Fixing the boat” implies they are successfully doing anything other than complain. Leftists are sitting in the boat yelling at the Liberal for not fixing the boat.
You seem to know a lot of lore here I’ve never heard of this person.

This is sort of like the depreciation tax benefit for private jets from the Trump tax cuts. I get it, I do, I just don’t care for the government offering extra help for the types of people in this scenario. Let them manage with their billions.

15·8 months agoHaha OK op thinking it was a scam is not racist, calling it “a core value in their society” is a bit racist.
South Africa, so well known for being racist against white South African emerald mine heirs.
Given enough time, we were always going to have right wing authoritarians back in power.
But call me an idealist, I didn’t think it would be actual Nazi sympathizers. Thought the brand was appropriately tarnished what with the Holocaust.
This is the second time Donald Trump has been elected with full control of both the House and Senate. It is not surprising that an old man in the same scenario would behave the same.
We are 5 years to the day from the last pre-Covid event I went to, a baby shower. People from NYC were there too and I spent the next two weeks worried they somehow infected my clothes or something that was going to get me later because we had no idea how it spread.
I saw something like this in the documentary Mark Wahlburg film The Happening.
He doesn’t call himself God until the gospel of John which was written later than the others. Pretty sure the historical Jesus wouldn’t be claiming to be God at all. That’s just something that happens with religions over time.
He would also be saying it in Aramaic as an illiterate builder (stone worker being more likely than carpenter but the Greek word translates generically).
And there were a lot of early groups (Marcion and all the groups we call Gnostic) who took Jesus’ teachings to mean God from the Old Testament was an evil demiurge God and Jesus’ teachings were to overcome the material world.
With how Christian teachings have coalesced into the Trinity etc it would be really interesting to hear what the historical man himself was actually saying.
This is actually (spoilers for terrible movie Scales: Mermaids Are Real) the climax of the movie Scales. Mermaids can control water and their blood heals people in that movie, so hunters are trying to get their blood and then one guy tries a last ditch bad guy move and the main character pulls all the water out of his body and he horrifically melts.
Kind of made me side with the hunters at that point it’s a horrifying power.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•In the US, is this actually the moment past the point of no return?
352·1 year agoWe don’t know.
The US came back from a US president hiring private goons to spy on his political opponents.
The US came back from a US president illegally selling weapons to Iran to fund right wing militias in South America.
The US came back from a US cabinet member taking literal bribes from oil companies to give them oil drilling rights on federal land.
The US came back from a US president illegally firing a cabinet member and installing his own lackey.
But it didn’t HAVE to.
I don’t think there’s really such a thing as a ‘point of no return’ for a Democracy. But it is possible to get to a point after which you don’t return.
That sounds right to me but is both a little hopeless (I guess we’ll just flip flop the presidency term-to-term forever?) and disagreeing with the premise of “pro-corporatism” from the OP.
Weird question, were there any elections in between those years? If so, why did they get left out?
Either Joe Biden wasn’t “pro-corporate” or there was some other similarity to the 2016 and 2024 candidates that fits better…
