1·2 days agoFor the controller issues, run games with Proton 9.x. As far as I know controllers don’t work right with Proton 10.x

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Please help me under stand my spouse's gift and their hurt
10·15 days agoThe text makes clear that the 3d printer was an older gift that they enjoyed (which they enjoyed building)
Kind of a sickly sweet if I remember right. Worked in a pharmacy that had a medication disposal box and someone dropped a bottle of the stuff in front of it.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Why is Unraid popular in the self-hosting community ?English
7·1 month agoIt’s still a one time purchase for the license. It’s only OS updates that would need to be paid for yearly after the 1st year
This new season of Make Some Noise really started off with a bang
Good to know, thank you! I haven’t touched S3 storage yet in my self hosting journey
For anyone else who was thinking of starting an instance, local storage is still a no-go right now
S3-Compatible Storage Required Currently, Loops requires an S3-compatible filesystem (like AWS S3, MinIO, or DigitalOcean Spaces) for avatar and video storage. Support for local storage is on the way but is not yet implemented. Please ensure you have S3 credentials ready before proceeding.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some small inconstancies in your body that makes you unique?
10·2 months agoYour tear ducts (and everyone else’s as well) are connected to your nasal cavity. It’s where tears drain and partly why we get runny noses when our eyes are tearing up.
Definitely more unusual to be able to force air the other way, but not impossible. I’ll sometimes do it accidentally if blowing my nose too hard.
It was my first thought as well, but this situation didn’t sound too familiar to me
Oh yeah, absolutely
20% of the price is typical and horribly out of reach with how expensive housing is
I’ve considered it but it hasn’t bugged me enough. Probably going to try them out here pretty soon
What you’re looking for is genealogy software. You’ve got me curious about this as well now, hadn’t thought about it before. I’m seeing some recommendations online for Gramps Web, don’t know if it’s a perfect fit but might be a good starting point.
I’ve got the Centauri Carbon and really like it. It is fairly noisy, but we’re in a small studio apartment and it’s been pretty easy to tune out during the day (Overnight prints are annoying though)
…and? They could do that that even without seeing your content.
The charger/phone charger. Since it’s the most used charger it’s just the default if we’re not specific
I started with Debian as well for my first server while I still had Windows as my desktop. Once I finally got around to ditching Windows, I was comfortable enough with a headless Debian server so figured I’d just stick with it for my desktop.
Definitely had some learning curves there. There’s a lot more tinkering to do to get things working

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which TV brand is the most reliable in your experience?
1·3 months agoI can second Sceptre for both TV and regular monitors! They’re definitely not the best quality (not bad, not astounding), but they’re dumb and do the job

The absolute giant cast of characters and the comics?
