Saying “you can’t make this up” is another way of saying “this is so fucked up and out there that even if you tried to make up something this shocking out of thin air you probably couldn’t”.
Also, sadly, this is not from a parallel universe. People are easily corruptible. When you reach the upper echelons of society (where wealth and power rule) you are rewarded for keeping quiet. Some ways you can be rewarded are 1) the money faucet you’re privy to continues to flow, 2) you can participate in the abuse of people and systems at your pleasure, or 3) you spare yourself and your family the wrath of evil-doers, should you try to expose them.
Just remember, if you’re a good natured person it can be extremely difficult at times to understand why bad people do bad things.
Thank you for questioning sources! And here it is; there’s an note written under the image, which is from the same Birthday Book. This image was also released earlier but it can be found within the full book scan from the House committee (pg 156).
https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/26086390-jeffey-epstein-50th-birthday-book
It says: Jeffrey showing early talents with money & women! Sells “fully depreciated” [redacted] to Donald Trump for $22,500. Shows early “people skills” too. Even though I handled the deal I didn’t get any of the money or the girl!

The “fully depreciated” bit, to me, means something along the lines of Epstein is done
datingraping her and now he’s selling her off to for someone else todaterape.Edit: I don’t know who the redacted faces belong to. One would presume the girl behind the check is the redacted name but who knows.
Top: another ‘card’ from Epstein’s birthday book (the same one that had the Trump doodle of an underdeveloped female and cryptic poem). Epsteins estate leaked the Trump card earlier, and now they’ve released the rest of the book. Idk the author of this card but it seems to imply Epstein enjoys grooming girls from a very young age to be his servants (sexual or otherwise).
Bottom: a picture of a check from Trump to Epstein, where Epstein sold (read: trafficked) a young girl to Trump.

4·4 months agoI can appreciate that. Maybe I’ll revisit my spaghetti base one day and try to finish.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which games made you go into an "addiction phase"?
7·4 months agoI had the same experience, but the other way around. I started losing interest in Satisfactory after I found out the map was static.
Nah, the background isn’t visible at all times. Need one of those desktop strippers that would walk-in over the system tray and start dancing naked in the corner of your screen.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a movie you can watch often and it never gets old?
6·4 months agoOh shiiit, I used to love this movie as a kid/teen. Time for a re-watch I think.
This is going in my top 5 for sure.
Oh nice! Do you know the name of the launcher? All my searches just bring up ornithopter rockets.
Hah, so true! I haven’t heard or seen anything about a portable rocket so I think you’re correct. The only heavy weapons (which won’t help against vehicles) are essentially the big machine gun and flamethrower, the same ones the heavy NPC’s have.

That’s crazy, and awesome.
I’m about 85 hrs in and will probably stop playing around 100. I’m playing solo btw, and it’s been fun but it feels like there’s no end game for me. Even as a group I would question if the end game is even worth it. All I have left to do is unlock all the skills (but there’s no challenging and engaging PvE content to justify it), and build a big base for funsies, which is what I’m doing now.
They need challenging repeatable PvE content to keep people like me engaged, or rewarding pvp gameplay. I was hoping the Deep Desert would be more akin to something like Rust, but really all they’ve done it taken the last tier of resource materials, spread them out over a very boring and empty map, and force you to be pvp flagged to get it. And you have to fly everywhere there, 1) because it’s fast and avoids worms, and 2) because the only vehicle combat is shooting rockets from the ornithopter so you’re dead to pvp if anyone else comes after you and you’re not in one.
I only browse Lemmy on Voyager, and when I click on a post image to show it “full screen” it shows a caption/text description of the image. I assumed this was the Alt Text the OP was referring to 🤷🏻♂️

Plenty of The Rock and Con Air mentions, so I’m going to toss one out for Gone in 60 Seconds.
Yes the writing is terrible and it has its fair share of cringe moments, but damnit I still like it. Perhaps it was the cast, or the weird 90’s/00’s aesthetic, or maybe because I was still in my formative teen years, pre 9/11, aka the before times, but it holds a special place in my heart.
